Kumihimo is traditional Japanese braiding, previously done using a wooden marudai.  A foam disk has now been invented by Makiko Tado which has opened the technique up to many more.  Kumihimo uses satin cord, ribbons and cords such as S-Lon and C-Lon.  Braids can be further enhanced by using beads.
